German Darts Championship: Gary Anderson survived scare from Ricky Williams in second round

Gary Anderson overcame a scare to edge past Ricky Williams 6-5 in the German Darts Championship second round on Saturday.
The world champion was forced into a deciding leg before confirming his spot in the third round.
Anderson, last year’s winner of the competition, took the first three legs to suggest an easy match but Williams fought back to make it 3-2.
Anderson won another two to put himself a leg away from victory but missed five darts to end the contest – and the Portsmouth underdog battled back again to make it 5-5.
But the Scottish world champion took the 11th leg and will face Steve Beaton in the next round.
"Ricky stuck in and did what he needed to do, and he put the pressure on so I'm glad to get through that," Anderson said.
Michael van Gerwen is also into the third round after a 6-3 win over Jelle Klaasen.
Van Gerwen won five legs in a row after going 1-0 down, even registering a 130 checkout, to secure a match with Stephen Bunting in the next phase.
"I want to play well game after game but I have to focus round by round because you can't afford any mistakes now,” Van Gerwen said.
Bunting thrashed Stuart Kellett 6-0 to meet Van Gerwen next time, while Adrian Lewis whitewashed Jeffrey De Zwaan with a 14-darter and a 140 checkout to end the match.
Peter Wright survived Ross Smith missing a match dart to eventually win 6-5 and book a spot against Lewis next time out.
Wright was 4-1 up but Smith fought back only to miss double 16 for the match.
