Walsh feeling good ahead of World Championship

Mark Walsh says his confidence is "sky high" as he looks to make a big impression at the 2012 Ladbrokes World Championship. 'Special Brew' reached the semi-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts last month and he reckons there is is no-one to fear after proving his ability on the big stage. "Getting to the semi-finals of the Grand Slam was a big confidence booster and I've got a lot of self-belief," he told Sportinglife.com. "With experience you get better and better. "There are a lot of new guns coming up who are fantastic darts players and it will be a new experience for them when they get on the stage. "I've been there for a few years now so I know what it's like. "My confidence is sky high. I'm feeling good and if I can produce my darts than I will have a good run. "There's no-one to fear as I've beaten all of them."

Celebrity

Darts' profile continues to rise with Prince Harry and Andrew Flintoff among the celebrity fans and Rihanna even featured the sport in the video for her number one single 'We Found Love'. Walsh thinks moving the World Championship to Alexandra Palace has helped contribute to darts' massive success with the rise showing no signs of abating. "The Circus Tavern was great for the time but it was just too small in the end. "Darts is getting so big now that they have to cater for more people and Alexandra Palace is perfect for what we do. "Freddie Flintoff and Prince Harry have been there to watch. "Darts is the working man's sport and all these celebrities and superstars probably play the game when they've been in the pub. "Everyone knows how hard it is to play this game so it's good to see them there."
