Swiss team want to climb up grid in 2011
Sauber have unveiled their challenger for the 2011 season and hope that a step forward can be made with the new C30 design.
Japanese driver Kamui Kobayashi will race alongside Mexican rookie Sergio Perez, with the latter's arrival bringing a welcome injection of sponsorship.
Telecommunications giant Telmex and Tequila brand Jose Cuervo are among the companies that have prominent logos on the car, in stark contrast to the mainly plain white livery at last year's launch.
And team boss Peter Sauber is going into the new campaign with renewed optimism after a testing and uncertain period for the team.
He said: "We want to finish in the points regularly and clearly improve our position in the FIA Formula 1 Constructors' World Championship. 2010 marked the 41st year of our company history and one of the most difficult.
Changes
"But we managed to overcome these difficulties in the second half of the season. We implemented some well-considered structural changes.
"The appointment of James Key as Technical Director already bore fruit last season, and he is now in charge of development of the Sauber C30-Ferrari.
"At the same time, we have managed to secure our business foundation for the 2011 season. In these economically straitened times that is something we can be proud of too."
Key hopes that the new car will bring an improvement on the weak areas of last season that saw Sauber finish eighth in the constructors' championship.
"In order to take a step forward in 2011, we were already systematically tackling the C29's weaknesses over the last season," he said.
"The insights we gleaned were taken into account when the concept for the new C30 was being drawn up."
