McLaren one-two in afternoon as Ferrari slip down timesheet

World champion Fernando Alonso set the quickest overall time in Friday practice ahead of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The Spaniard shrugged off both a misfire during the morning and his arrival centre stage in the 'Stepneygate' row to set a time of one 22.386 seconds in the afternoon session. The time was just over eight tenths of a second quicker than that of team-mate, and current championship leader, Lewis Hamilton, who was second quickest in the afternoon. Giancarlo Fisichella was third quickest for Renault, the Italian hoping for a strong result this weekend in order to try and retain a seat with the team next year. Fourth place went to BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica, ahead of Williams driver Nico Rosberg. But, after being quickest in the morning session, Ferrari slipped back in the afternoon, with Felipe Massa in sixth place - some 1.33 secs off Alonso's pace. BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld was seventh, ahead of Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, who fell down from from top spot in the opening session to eighth. The only notable problem of the afternoon befell Super Aguri's Anthony Davidson, who stopped the session for nine minutes when his car broke down on the side of the track. He finished at the bottom of the timesheet. Italian Grand Prix, Friday practice, session two:
