Nakajima fears for seat

Kazuki Nakajima concedes he could lose his Williams seat unless he comes up with some strong results in the last four races.

Japanese driver says he must up his game in remaining races

Kazuki Nakajima has conceded that he could lose his Williams seat unless he is able to produce some strong results in the last four races of the season. The Japanese driver has failed to score a single World Championship point so far in 2009, his team-mate Nico Rosberg in contrast having netted 30.5 points. While Rosberg is touted as a future McLaren driver, Nakajima has also been rumoured to be heading for the exit door at Williams - albeit for rather different reasons. The team's test driver, Nico Hulkenberg, has hardly done his prospects of graduating to the top flight any harm by winning the GP2 category this year, with Nakajima now admitting he needs to start scoring points and fast. "Nothing has come up yet, but I'm still pushing hard to get something," he told autosport.com. "I need to get better results; I'm sure my performance is better than last year but I haven't had the results, so that's a bit of a problem. "For the driver market, nobody seems to have decided on anything. If some people make a move, then things will start to happen after that." The 24-year-old said he would rather stay at Williams next season than have to move to another team. "It's their decision, though, and the results haven't being going well for me," Nakajima said. "But I'm sure there are still some things I can show them. This team has become like a home for me, I know all the guys, so I would like to stay. "My performances are certainly better than last year in terms of qualifying and in the races. But also the car's performance has been better than last year. "So everything is getting there, just somehow the results haven't come. It's been a bit frustrating sometimes." With Williams set to end their Toyota engine deal at the end of the season, a switch to the Japanese manufacturer's own team has been mentioned as a possibility for Nakajima.
