Race organisers quick to deny claim of construction delay
Organisers of the Korean Grand Prix have denied claims that the inaugural race is in danger of being called off.
Last week, German magazine
Focus reported that construction delays have placed the race, scheduled for October 24th, in doubt.
The publication said Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone had travelled to the circuit in Yeongam to view the situation for himself and also quoted concerns expressed by track designer Herman Tilke.
However, the race's organisers have been quick to respond and have claimed that, far from being delayed, the project is in fact ahead of schedule.
"The construction progress for our circuit is well ahead of its schedule and we have absolutely no issues with completion," Korea Auto Valley Operation CEO Yung Cho Chung told
Autosport.
"I understand that Mr. Ecclestone is quite happy with not only the progress of the track but the direction the Korean F1 race is headed and he has raised no questions and concerns," he added.
