Mallya vows to remain at the helm of his F1 team
Vijay Mallya insists he has no intention of selling Force India despite reports suggesting he's ready to quit the Silverstone-based team.
A report in the Asian Age hinted the owner Mallya was ready to sell the team he bought in 2007 for a figure believed to be £80million.
But Mallya, who has made his fortune from the United Breweries Group and Kingfisher Airlines, has vowed to remain at the helm.
"I was shocked to read a media report that I am selling the Force India Formula One team - this is completely untrue and without any basis whatsoever," said Mallya in a statement.
"I take great pride in having been able to put an Indian team on the Formula One world championship grid and have worked very hard to greatly improve the performance of the team."
Mallya has admitted the fact India will make its debut on the F1 stage later this month has merely served as an inspiration.
"Now that India is finally on the F1 calendar, my commitment to Force India becomes even stronger," added Mallya.
"As team principal, I will continue to run the team and I have no plans whatsoever to exit."
