SkyBet back Lewis Hamilton to come out on top in Monte Carlo
The Formula One season moves onto the most glamorous race of the season at Monte Carlo this weekend, with Lewis Hamilton favourite to continue a remarkable run.
There have been five winners in as many races and a maiden 2012 victory for the Englishman on Sunday would add even more intrigue to an unpredictable campaign.
Seven of the drivers that will be on the grid have already won the race in the past, but there is one man who will be hoping he can add his name to an illustrious list that includes former world champions Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button and Michael Schumacher.
Pastor Maldonaldo was the victor last time out in Spain and has performed well at Monaco in the past and could be an outsider to watch.
Maldonaldo has enjoyed success in the Principality in the past in the GP2 Series and F3000, but whether he can bring that street success to F1 remains to be seen.
The Venezuelan qualified eighth in the same race last season before slumping to 18th after a collision with Hamilton which scuppered his race shortly before the end.
But this time his confidence will be high and the Williams is performing well, so he could be worth a look at
14/1.
Advantage
Red Bull have won the race for the past two seasons, with Vettel taking the chequered flag last year and Mark Webber in 2010, but
Sky Bet F1 trader Tamas Feher reckons McLaren could have the advantage this time round.
He said: "This is a difficult race to call as last year Red Bull performed well on the fast circuits and McLaren were great on the slower tracks, but the opposite has been true this season.
"Hamilton is favourite to win at Monaco - which is a slow circuit - with Button struggling to get to grips with the car so far this season, although whether this season's form will apply this weekend remains to be seen."
Long-shot
Outside of the obvious teams, Feher reckons Lotus could provide a winner after Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean secured respective third and fourth-placed finishes at the Circuit de Catalunya and mentions
150/1 shot Daniel Ricciardo as a possible fastest qualifier.
He said: "The Lotus has very good traction out of corners and has been performing well this season.
"Ricciardo is worth a go as the slow corners would suit him and he has reached Q3 twice already this season and qualified sixth in Bahrain."
He added: "It would only take a couple of drivers in the final qualifying session to be too cautious with their tyres, and an accident - like we saw with Sergio Perez last season - which could shut down the session and allow the Torro Rosso man to benefit."
