Valtteri Bottas has reiterated his desire to race for Williams next season, saying he wants a "long career" with them.
Bottas, who is backed by Williams' new executive director Toto Wolff, currently fills the role of test and reserve driver.
However, unlike others in similar positions, the Finn has been given plenty of opportunity to take part in Friday practice sessions.
He is scheduled to take part in 15 morning sessions in all this season and has so far been faster than Spanish Grand Prix winner Pastor Maldonado on five occasions.
Bottas, though, is hoping his days as a reserve will not last much longer.
"It's good that I can match (Maldonado) and sometimes beat him, and there's a lot more to come if I get to drive more," the 22-year-old told
GP Week.
"I really enjoy working with these people and Williams has a great history. I feel at home here.
"The ideal would be to stay here and I hope for a long career with Williams."
However, with both Maldonado and team-mate Bruno Senna bringing funding to the team, Bottas conceded that he would need to do the same.
"It helps if you have some financial backing and of course we're pushing for that," he admitted.
