Hamilton to testify in Sutil trial

Lewis Hamilton has been called to give evidence in the trial of Adrian Sutil, who faces an allegation of assault after an incident in a Shanghai nightclub last year. The former Force India driver has been charged with one count of causing grievous bodily harm after it was alleged that he stabbed Eric Lux, the co-owner of investment company Genii Capital which owns the Lotus team, in the neck with a champagne glass. The incident took place when Sutil was out celebrating with Hamilton after the latter's victory in April's Chinese Grand Prix. Sutil has insists the incident was an accident. However, the Munich District Court is pressing ahead with the case, with Hamilton now confirmed as a witness when the trial starts on Monday January 30. "The first day Lewis Hamilton is being called as a witness," court spokeswoman Ingrid Kaps told the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper. "This is a mandatory appearance." Hamilton will be in the UK two days later, when McLaren launch their 2012 car at their Woking headquarters. Related Articles:
