Sauber's Sergio Perez has been cleared to race in this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.
Rookie has recovered from Monaco crash
Sauber's Mexican rookie Sergio Perez has received the all-clear to race at the Canadian Grand Prix.
Perez ploughed into the harbour chicane in qualifying for the race in Monaco on May 28 which resulted in him spending two nights in hospital after suffering concussion and a sprained thigh.
But following an examination on Thursday by FIA medical delegate Jean Charles Piette and the medical officers at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Perez "has been found fit to race" this weekend.
"I've had the tests with the FIA. It was a very good examination as they checked all my bones, my memory, my reaction," said Perez.
"We also gave them the results from our doctors, and everything is fine for me to race this weekend.
"After the accident I felt dizzy, which is why I stayed another day in hospital, but we were always positive there would be enough time to recover ahead of this race.
"There was nothing damaged, no problems at all, so it was only a matter of time to return to normal life."
Karting
Perez also revealed he took part in some karting as part of his rehabilitation.
"I stayed in Monaco for two or three days after the accident to help my recovery, and then I flew to Zurich to have another check up there," he added.
"After that I flew to Mexico and had some days at home which was very important, which included some karting, and everything was okay.
"It's always important when you've had a big crash to go out and drive something."
