2013 Hungarian GP Practice One: Sebastian Vettel heads a Red Bull one-two

Red Bull ran one-two in opening practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix on Friday, with Sebastian Vettel topping the timesheet ahead of team-mate Mark Webber.
What with the new tyres and temperatures to consider on top of their usual rafts of aero upgrades, teams have plenty to think about this weekend. Yet the dusty track - always more of a problem at the Hungaroring than most other tracks - mitigated against much early running. When cars did finally go out in earnest, the likes of Raikkonen, Alonso and Webber all featured prominently as did Button and Perez - offering further encouragement, perhaps, to McLaren after both drivers finished in the points at the last race in Germany. Defending Champion and current leader Vettel was among the last to attempt a time but soon made progress, leaping up from 18th to sixth before moving fastest overall. From the pitlane, Sky Sports F1's Ted Kravitz reported that Red Bull were trialling a new front wing while Mercedes have a modified rear wing on their W04, plus a 'bulge' under the car's nose. Williams also have upgrades and Maldonado's time might offer them encouragement. Sauber, meanwhile, ran the Red Bull-style rear end - which features a hole behind each sidepod to divert airflow to the diffuser - they also trialled at Silverstone. Second practice gets underway at 1pm BST. Temperatures are only going to head one way, so the session will be vital as teams try to get a handle on the levels of tyre degradation ahead of Sunday's race.
