At the end of what was the most closely-fought title battle in the history of the Formula One World Championship, it seems fitting that the prize should go to the driver who didn't actually lead the standings until the very last race. That was the outcome at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, when Sebastian Vettel did all that was required of him to become the sport's youngest ever world champion. The 23-year-old's triumph came at the end of a season which started with him setting the pace - and yet struggling with reliability during the races themselves. He then had to contend with the emergence of his own team-mate, Mark Webber, as well as criticism for his own perceived petulance on track. Perhaps we should be thankful for the various problems Vettel has experienced on Sundays this year, as 10 pole positions might otherwise have translated into a turgid procession. In the event, he scored five wins and eventually pipped Fernando Alonso by four points. The Ferrari driver had seemed a surefire bet to take his third title on Sunday but faded during the race. Should he and Ferrari blame themselves? Or was the situation yet another indictment of F1 and the lack of overtaking it affords? Perhaps some of you think there's a case of 'just deserts' in Alonso's failure to challenge when it really mattered, given the Ferrari 'team orders' controversy earlier in the year... Webber, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button were also title contenders, of course. How should they reflect on their respective seasons? Do you think the 34-year-old Australian will get another chance? Fill in the form and give us your thoughts on the outcome of the 2011 F1 season...
