Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo is excited about this summer's Investec Ashes, even though the Australian will develop a rivalry with most of his team.
The 25-year-old may spend much of his time in England with the Milton Keynes F1 squad, but that hasn’t affected his loyalties ahead of first Test, which starts in Cardiff on July 8.
“I’m feeling good about it, I’d love to get to a game, but with the busy calendar it is hard,” Ricciardo told Sky Sports.
“I’ll definitely be supporting the Aussies and I think we will do – especially if the sun is shining, I think we are going to do very well.”
Indeed such is his confidence when asked where the Australian’s strengths lay he replied: “Everywhere!
“All Aussie sportsmen have always had a very high level of confidence and they have a lot of belief. They know when they play at the top of their ability they can beat anyone and the Aussie cricket team have that. That is where their strength is.”
England were whitewashed in the previous series down-under and Ricciardo is predicting a long summer for the home fans.
“5-0,” the Red Bull driver predicted of the series with a beaming smile.
