German driver to start testing after BMW agree release
Timo Glock will make his Toyota bow at Jerez next week after BMW agreed to release him from his contract.
Toyota announced earlier this month that Glock would be taking Ralf Schumacher's vacated race-seat for the 2008 season.
However, there were some concerns that he would not be able to test with the team until the new year as he was still under contract with BMW.
The German team, though, have agreed to give him an early release and Glock is now looking forward to his first test in Toyota's TF107.
Excited
"I am very excited to be driving a Toyota for the first time at Jerez," he told the official F1 website. "I am looking forward to getting to know the team and the car.
"As soon as it was confirmed that I could test for Toyota at Jerez we had to think about all the practical things like seat fittings, uniforms, that kind of thing. It has just happened and we are still fixing things together for the test."
Glock is also looking forward to meeting his new team-mate Jarno Trulli, who he hopes will help him in his first full season in F1.
"I haven't met Jarno yet, but I will do soon," he said. "He has a lot of experience, he is really quick and I think we will work well together to bring the team forward."
Although the 2008 season-opening Australian GP will be Glock's first race as a Toyota driver, the German has already competed in four grands prix when he raced for Jordan in 2004.
