A1GP chairman linked with purchasing F1 team
Joint Scuderia Toro Rosso owner Dietrich Mateschitz has confirmed the team is on the market.
Mateschitz admits there is no way he will be able to continue operating the Italian team under the new concorde agreement, which will outlaw customer cars from the start of 2010.
The Red Bull founder therefore, hopes the franchise will be under new management by the start of next season.
Reason
"It is not a big secret that we have put Toro Rosso on the market," he told
Motorsport Aktuell.
"For the start of 2010 there will be a rule change and there will be no more synergy regarding design and construction of cars between Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso.
"There I see the necessity that we continue with one team only. We will not sell Toro Rosso during the 2008 season, but it will be before 2010."
Several names, including A1GP chairman Tony Teixeira and Russian businessman Roustam Tariko, have already been linked to the team.
Mateschitz, though, says he will only sell to the right person.
"We will only sell the team if it is put into safe hands," he added.
