Jolyon Palmer criticises Felipe Nasr after Italian GP collision

Renault and Sauber drivers blame each other for early Monza crash

Jolyon Palmer labelled Felipe Nasr's driving 'unfair' and called for the Brazilian to be given a grid drop after they collided in the Italian GP.

Both drivers retired with accident damage after coming together out of Monza's first chicane on the second lap, with Nasr spinning after the Renault and Sauber cars banged wheels.

Stewards found Nasr at fault for the accident and handed the Brazilian a 10-second time penalty, which he served in a brief return to the track from the garage, and added two penalty points on his licence.

However, an unimpressed Palmer felt a more severe penalty should have been imposed for the next race in Singapore.

"He's not racing very fairly and ended both of our races," the Renault driver told Sky Sports F1.

"I think he should have a grid drop because he's ended my race. We've got to race fairly and if you just drive someone clean off the track when I'm side-by-side the only choice I have is to go to the gravel or we crash.

"There's better racing in GP2 and GP3 at the minute."

While adjudged to be the guilty party, Nasr felt it had been Palmer who had hit him.

"All I did I went into the first chicane ahead of Jolyon and when I was exiting I just felt a big hit on my rear tyres," he said. "That was it, race over."

Asked for a response to Palmer's criticisms of him, Nasr simply replied: "I don't need to say anything."
