Despite being left off the
provisional 2009 calendar, the US Grand Prix organisers are still hoping to find a way back into F1.
The race, which takes place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, was dropped from the F1 calendar for the 2008 season after failing to agree a new deal with Bernie Ecclestone.
However, race officials have not given up on F1 returning to the hallowed Speedway.
"Discussions will continue," Indianapolis Motor Speedway spokesman Ron Green told the
Associated Press.
"We believe a return of Formula One to our calendar, especially during our centennial era, the period between 2009-2011, would be appropriate. But it must be on terms reasonable to all the groups."
As for Indy not being included on the provisional 2009 calendar which was released by the FIA on Wednesday, Green said: "We want to stress it's just a provisional schedule.
"We continue to be interested in the return of the United States Grand Prix."
