Jenson Button has conceded that he simply could not match the pace of the Red Bull cars in the Chinese Grand Prix.
Championship leader did not have car to compete for win
Jenson Button has admitted that he could do nothing to stop Red Bull dominating the Chinese Grand Prix.
Sebastian Vettel led from start to finish and claimed Red Bull's maiden grand prix victory in the process. He was followed home by team-mate Mark Webber while Button was third.
Button's Brawn GP car was the class of the field during the first two races of the season but had no answer to the pace of the Red Bull's on Sunday.
"We couldn't challenge these people (Vettel and Webber) today, who were immensely quick, but it is great to score six points which is important for the consistency," the Briton said.
The Championship leader revealed that both the Brawn GPs struggled to maintain temperature in their tyres in the cold and wet conditions.
Heat
"I wasn't weaving to block honestly! I just wanted to get heat into the tyres," Button added.
"Rubens and myself struggled quite a bit, I don't know what reason for that is, car working in a different way, we will solve those problems in the future.
"I think everyone was struggling with the aquaplaning out there, it was pretty crazy conditions into the last corner.
"It was a lake and I couldn't brake for the corner. A few other places were the same, the tyres shuddered as you couldn't get temperature in to them.
"It was difficult race and every lap you thought you were going to throw the car off, you really did. So to finish the race was an achievement and to come home on podium is also great."
