Red Bull Racing technical director Geoff Willis has left the team after his job was axed.

Technical director made redundant

Red Bull Racing technical director Geoff Willis has left the team after his job was axed, it was confirmed on Friday. "His position has been made redundant," a team spokeswoman said. The Briton had worked closely with chief technical officer Adrian Newey at Red Bull technology, the company that has designed race-winning cars for both the Red Bull and Toro Rosso teams. Toro Rosso won last year's Italian Grand Prix with Sebastian Vettel behind the wheel, the German driver moving to Red Bull this season and taking victory in the Chinese and British grands prix. Red Bull currently lie second to Brawn GP in the constructors' championship. Willis also worked with Newey at the Leyton House and Williams teams before joining Honda, where he was technical director until July 2007.
