FIA launch race probe

The FIA have announced that they have launched an investigation into a previous Formula One race result.

Investigation under way "regarding alleged events"

The FIA have announced that they have launched an investigation into a previous Formula One race result. Motor sport's world governing body refused to specifically divulge either the race concerned or the circumstances that have resulted in them making their enquiries. "The FIA can confirm that an investigation is under way regarding alleged events at a previous world championship race," an FIA spokesperson stated after the Belgian Grand Prix. It is being reported that the event in question is last year's Singapore Grand Prix, which became the first GP to be staged under floodlights. The race was won by Spaniard Fernando Alonso while his Renault team-mate Nelson Piquet crashed out on lap 14, bringing out the safety car.
