Williams ponder Hulkenberg promotion

Kazuki Nakajima's future at Williams remains uncertain as the Grove-based outfit continue to deliberate the possible promotion of Nico Hulkenberg. Williams have already made it clear that they are eager to retain the services of Nico Rosberg next year, but the same cannot be said for Nakajima. While Rosberg is sixth in the World Championship with 30.5 points, his team-mate is yet to pick up any points. Technical director Sam Michael admits it is tough when only one driver scores points, and refused to criticise Nakajima. "Of course it is not ideal, if only one driver gets points," Michael told Germany's Autobild Motorsport. "If we had another driver like Nico, then we would be third in the Constructors' Championship. "I cannot deny that this is not an ideal situation, but it would be wrong to criticise the driver. Instead, we should support and motivate him. In addition, Kazuki would've picked a point or two for example in Istanbul, but we messed up the pit stop." Michael also confirmed that they will decide in the next few weeks whether they will hand Hulkenberg a race seat next year. "We have a contract with Hulkenberg and must decide in the coming weeks whether we will extend this deal," Michael said.
