Kimi Raikkonen's plans for a F1 break appear short-lived, with the Finn's manager suggesting he might consider offers from Mercedes.

Finn's plans for a one-year sabbatical last less than 24 hours

Kimi Raikkonen's plans for a one-year Formula One sabbatical appear short-lived, with the Finn's manager suggesting he could be open to offers from Mercedes. British manager Steve Robertson has implied that 2007 world champion Raikkonen, who failed to secure a deal with McLaren after leaving Ferrari, might still feature on the grid next season if the right offer materialises from Brawn's new owners. "This is Formula One," Robertson told autosport.com. "If they can offer, or convince us, that they can provide Kimi an opportunity that Kimi is happy with, and that we are happy with, and he feels he can win races and the championship, then 'never-say-never'. There is always a possibility."

Champions

Brawn GP secured both titles this year with Britain's Jenson Button, who has made the move to McLaren for 2010. The champions will compete as Mercedes Grand Prix next season, with Nico Rosberg of Germany expected to drive with the outfit. Robertson, who manages Raikkonen with his father David, insisted that the driver's position was not entirely money-orientated. "There are not many teams that would appeal to Kimi because he is honest when he says he has got to have a car to win. He is not interested in the money," added Robertson. "Of course, money is a part of it but he doesn't need the money. He wants a car where he can show his talent." David Robertson announced earlier this week that Raikkonen was turning his attention to rallying ahead of a F1 comeback in 2011 after McLaren were unable to afford his drive for next season.
