Team boss says Brawn seat is most attractive on the market
Ross Brawn believes that top drivers will wait to sign deals with other teams until he has made his decision on Jenson Button's replacement.
Brawn GP, who will be rebranded as Mercedes GP next season, lost the reigning World Champion to McLaren earlier this week and have yet to name either of their two drivers for 2010.
The Championship-winning outfit are reported to have signed former Williams driver Nico Rosberg but Brawn insists he is in no rush to make a decision.
"It would be stupid to be carried away and make a quick decision," he told
Auto Motor und Sport. "We will draw up a list of potential candidates and then will analyse these."
The team boss also believes that top drivers will be hoping to land a Brawn GP seat and will put off signing deals with other teams until a decision has been reached.
"I believe the open race-seat with us is the most attractive seat on the market," he added.
Speculation
Michael Schumacher, who won his world titles under Brawn's guidance, is rumoured to be a contender but Brawn has played down the reports.
"The last time I spoke with Michael I did not get the impression that he wanted to come back on a long-term basis," he said.
"He did want to help Ferrari in their time of trouble, but it would have been temporary with a limit time."
There is also some speculation that Kimi Raikkonen, who was overlooked by McLaren in favour of Button, could now head to Mercedes GP.
However, Mercedes motorsport boss Norbert Haug, a long-time fan of the 2007 World Champion, would not confirm the rumours.
"Kimi has my number," he said. "He can call me at any time."
