Monza has held more grand prix than any other venue, having hosted a round every year since the world championship started in 1950. There is always an incredible noise when you visit the Italian circuit as the Ferrari fans get behind their 'national team'. The circuit is the fastest on the calendar, with cars reaching 215 mph on the pit-straight and spending more than 80 per cent of the lap flat out. The track has changed little since its inception in 1922, with the high-speed oval section dropped and chicanes added to slow the cars down and improve safety. The oval, now in a state of disrepair, remains as a constant reminder of the venues history, while the chicanes now provide the overtaking opportunities. The race remains a classic and is a fitting way to end the European season.
