Track through Albert Park already beginning to take shape
Organisers of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne have already begun their preparations for March's race, which again lifts the curtain on the new Formula 1 season.
With less than two months to go until the new cars fire up on the grid for the first time in 2012 on Sunday 18th March, officials announced via the race's website that the facilities around the temporary street circuit in Albert Park were beginning to take shape.
The first of the track's 11km of barriers have already been installed, along with the chicane pavilion on turn one and Fangio Grandstand.
With the season-opening race starting at 5pm local time in the late afternoon sunshine of an Australian autumn, that means an early wake-up call of 6am for UK viewers who want to watch the race live
Work on the converting the public park into an F1 venue will be completed by 9th March, just one week before the first car rolls out for free practice one.
All the action from the first race, and the entire 2012 season, can be watched live and uninterrupted on
Sky Sports F1 HD.
