Icelandic hitman wraps up Amsterdam move

Young Iceland striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson has completed a move to Ajax from AZ Alkmaar for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old has penned a four-year deal with the Godenzonen to keep him at the Amsterdam ArenA until 2015. Sigthorsson impressed in his debut campaign last season, scoring 18 goals in 43 appearances for Eredivisie side AZ. His performances reportedly turned heads across Europe, with Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund among those who were thought to be targeting the youngster. But Ajax have won the race for his signature in a deal understood to be in the region of €4million (£3.6m). "I'm proud to have signed a contract with Ajax," Sigthorsson, who will wear the No.9 shirt for the Dutch champions, told Ajax's official website. "That's a great number for me. Many great players have worn that number. "I'm hoping to become a better player here. I hope I can do great things for the club, win titles, and I want to score more goals than last year."
