Jordan Spieth was quick to play down comparisons to Tiger Woods after securing a landmark victory at the Travelers Championship.
Spieth registered his 10th PGA Tour success in dramatic fashion at TPC River Highlands, posting a level-par 70 before holing out from a bunker to defeat Daniel Berger in a play-off.
Victory sees Spieth join Woods as the only players in the modern era to register 10 PGA Tour titles or more before turning 24, but the Texan refuses to get carried away with links to the 14-time major champion.
"I'm hesitant and will speak out adamantly about not comparing myself to anybody else," Spieth said after his win. "I think that's unfair.
"I don't think anybody will do what Tiger did for the game. But it's really cool to be out here at my age, to experience what we're able to experience, playing golf for a living. That's a dream come true for me."
Spieth birdied his first two holes on Sunday but only added one further gain during his final round, with three bogeys leaving him requiring a superb up-and-down from a bunker at the last to force a play-off.
The 23-year-old uncharacteristically struggled on the greens throughout the week and missed a number of putts from inside 10 feet, with Spieth hailing caddie Michael Greller's involvement in the victory.
"I give a lot of credit to Michael (Greller)," Spieth added. "I thought this was his most impressive performance he's ever had.
"This whole week I haven't felt comfortable on the greens. Even when I made some putts, they didn't necessarily feel like great putts.
"It wasn't a normal kind of Jordan putting week. You know, something like this could be a catapult, but Michael kept me grounded."
