Ross Fisher chasing late Race to Dubai challenge in South Africa

Ross Fisher believes he is still capable of making a late challenge for Race to Dubai victory as he searches for a first win of the season at the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
Fisher heads to South Africa sixth in the Race to Dubai standings and trails leader Tommy Fleetwood by over 1.6 million points ahead of the penultimate event of the European Tour season.
The 36-year-old moved up the rankings by posting back-to-back runner-up finishes at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and the Italian Open, with Fisher looking to close the gap on Fleetwood ahead of next week's DP World Tour Championship.
"My main objective was to try and go out and win of these two weeks," Fisher said. "Obviously to try and improve on the Race to Dubai rankings.
"I feel like if I can play to the level that I played those two weeks (Dunhill and Italy), then I've got a really good chance in hopefully capping the season off with a win.
"Tommy (Fleetwood) might be that little bit too far ahead, but you never know. If I play to the capabilities and what I know I'm capable of playing to, I could quite easily go win, win.
"If I want to do that, then I'm going to have to play very, very well. It's a strong field this week and no doubt it will be a strong field next week. I'm looking toward to the challenge, and hopefully, I can finish the season off strong."
Fisher tees off in the opening round alongside home favourite Louis Oosthuizen and Italy's Francesco Molinari - ninth in the standings - who is chasing his highest finish on the Race to Dubai.
"I'm looking forward to this week and next week obviously to try and improve my ranking," said Molinari, who finished fifth on the Race to Dubai in 2010.
"It won't be easy because there are a lot of good players up there, but obviously I have the chance to finish quite high up in the Race to Dubai. I'm going to do my best to do that."
