For the fourth time in its history Oitavos Dunes will stage Portugal's national open. European Tour stats package The Arthur Hills-designed course, situated in the affluent suburb of Cascais on the outskirts of Lisbon, was opened in 2001. This coastal layout is dotted with sand dunes, and has a number of holes running close to the Atlantic Ocean which gives the venue a links-feel. Other features of the course are undulating greens and wide fairways. And with Portugal's Golf Federation celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, golf fans will be admitted free of charge. The total purse is €1.25m and has attracted a decent field.

So who's taking part on Portugal's west coast?

Thomas Bjorn: Without a victory in almost three years but played well for three days in Spain last week only to slip outside the top-10 on Sunday. Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano: It is never easy to judge how the Spaniard will perform but he is certainly not afraid to win given an opportunity. He has collected four Tour titles in less than four years and, on home turf in Seville last week, finished in a tie for 14th. Alistair Forsyth: His 12 rounds at Oitavos Dunes average 69.17. The burly Scot was fifth in Andalucia on Sunday to post his first top-25 finish of the season. Anders Hansen: Will tee-up on Thursday as one of the favourites for the title. The Dane is making his first trip to Oitavos. Louis Oosthuizen: Five of his six strokeplay events during 2009 have yielded top-10 finishes. However, he is still waiting for his maiden European Tour title and is currently sixth in the Race to Dubai standings. Graeme Storm: Returned to form at the weekend with a top-three finish in Spain - his first top-10 of the season. The popular Geordie was also third at Oitavos Dunes two years ago.
