A stellar field will tee-up in this week's HSBC Champions event in Shanghai where the world's top-two ranked players - Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson - come face to face with the leading stars of the European Tour. European Tour stats package Not only is the Sheshan event the latest to earn World Golf Championship status, it could also play an integral part in deciding who eventually tops this season's Race to Dubai standings. For the fifth straight year, the tournament is being staged at Sheshan International where world number one Woods has twice finished runner-up. Woods was second here in both 2005 and 2006, and will inevitably start as the favourite on Thursday. However, there are plenty of big names ready to challenge Tiger at the tree-lined, undulating, five-year-old venue in which water comes into play on 11 holes.

So who is likely to contend this week?

Padraig Harrington: Will be desperate to end what has been a frustrating year for the Irishman on a high. His four previous finishes at Sheshan read: 15-6-5-11. Liang Wen-Chong: Could be China's best hope of claiming a victory on home soil. Finished second behind Ian Poulter in last week's Singapore Open. Phil Mickelson: The world No 2 recently described his current form as being the best for over two years. Leftie beat Woods into second place at the Tour Championship in late September and was also a winner of this event two years ago. Henrik Stenson: His season has tailed off a little but has a decent Shanghai record. The Swede has competed in all four HSBC events, with his finishing position improving year-by-year - top-10s in each of the past two visits. Lee Westwood: The most consistent European golfer of the past 12 months. The 36-year-old Englishman currently tops the Race to Dubai standings and always enjoys pitting his wits against Woods and Mickelson. Oliver Wilson: Remains the best current European yet to win on Tour. The 29-year-old lost a play-off in this event 12 months ago, when he was edged out by Sergio Garcia.
