Turkish Airlines Open: Melissa Reid remains leader after 54 holes
Thursday 29 October 2015 13:59, UK
Melissa Reid remains atop the leaderboard after 54 holes of the Turkish Airlines Open, despite posting a one-over-par 74 on day three.
The 27-year-old from England has led since day one, following rounds of 65 and 69, and she goes into Wednesday's finale with a one-stroke advantage.
On Tuesday, she carded 14 pars, along with a brace of birdies, one bogey and a double-bogey at the par-four 12th.
Reid was briefly caught by Pamela Pretswell when the Scot birdied 15, only for the 26-year-old from Hamilton to drop back after bogeying the final hole for a one-under par 72.
And leader Reid admitted it was not the easiest of days: "It was really tough this afternoon. The greens are borderline unplayable, they are so firm.
"We were struggling to hold wedges onto it and Gwladys (Nocera) hit a couple of really nice chips and they ran out 15 yards.
"It was tough. I always felt like I was in-between clubs. I’m quite happy in a way that I’ve played it in these conditions because hopefully on Wednesday I can play a bit better."
Meanwhile Pretswell, who had five birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey on the 10th hole, added: "It was a wee bit tougher today because the course kind of changed midway with the warm weather.
"The course started to dry out a bit and the greens got a little bit faster. I played some good stuff but had a couple of bad holes which let me down."
