Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook secures 42nd triple-double of season

Russell Westbrook set a new season record for NBA triple-doubles in a match-winning effort for the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday.
Westbrook piled up 55 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists, and it was also his buzzer-beating three-point shot which earned the Thunder a 106-105 win over the Denver Nuggets.
He delivered his 10th assist with just over four minutes remaining in the game, taking him past Oscar Robertson's 55-year-old record and securing a 42nd triple-double (10+ points, rebounds and assists) of what has been an incredible season.
"I'm so thankful to play the game I love every night," Westbrook said.
"It's an unbelievable blessing.
"My motto was 'Why not?'. I always stick by it regardless of what people say is possible or what's not possible. I continue to think 'why not' and continue to strive to be the best I can be."
Westbrook, 28, is now on 79 career triple-doubles and has moved past the legendary Wilt Chamberlain for fourth on the all-time list.
But he has a long way to break another of Robertson's records - the career mark of 181 - and he also trails Magic Johnson (138) and Jason Kidd (107).
