NBA: Cleveland too strong for Memphis thanks to LeBron James

LeBron James was once again the star performer as Cleveland eased passed Memphis 105-91 on Sunday.

The in-form Cavalier registered 25 points and 11 assists for his team as they made it eight home wins out of nine.

James scored 16 points in the second half alone, while Dion Waiters added 13 in the final quarter to bring his tally for the match to 21 as the Cavaliers shot a season-best 61 per cent from the field.

Marc Gasol posted 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Grizzlies who played without forward Zach Randolph, who is suffering from a knee injury.

However, the visitors remain top of the NBA Southwest Conference despite this defeat.

Elsewhere, Phoenix won 104-92 at Washington to end the Wizards' six-game winning streak.                 

Eric Bledsoe and Markieff Morris each potted 17 points for the Suns who completed a perfect three-game road trip, having lost the previous six.               

Rasual Butler had a 17-point haul for the Wizards who dropped into a tie with Atlanta at the top of the Southeast Division.             

And Miami ended a run of five-successive home-court defeats by beating Boston 100-84 with Luol Deng recording 23 points.

Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins collected 29 points and 14 rebounds in his second start since returning from a serious illness, as he helped the Kings see off the Los Angeles Lakers 108-101.

In other games, Lou Williams and Kyle Lowry each scored 22 points as Toronto defeated New York Knicks 118-108. The Raptors have now won six in a row.

A close match at the Barclays Center where Brooklyn edged out Detroit 110-105 after the teams shared 54 points during the final quarter.

Philadelphia secured only their third win of the season with a 96-88 victory over Orlando at the Amway Center.

Anthony Davis posted 38 points and 12 rebounds to lead New Orleans to a narrow 101-99 victory over Oklahoma City who had led by five points going into the final quarter.

Finally, Indiana beat Minnesota 100-96 as the Pacers claimed just a second win in 12 NBA games.
