Australia’s Bridie O’Donnell broke the women’s UCI Hour Record on Friday with a distance of 46.882km in Adelaide.
The 41-year-old eclipsed the previous record of 46.274km, set by American rider Molly Shaffer van Houweling last September, by 608m.
O'Donnell is the third female rider to attempt the record since rules governing permitted equipment were changed in 2014.
Britain's Dame Sarah Storey made the first attempt last February but fell short.
