Kilmacud Crokes forward Shane Horan has pledged his intercounty allegiances to Offaly.

As reported by the Irish Daily Mirror, Horan qualifies to represent the county through his parents.

The half forward helped the Stillorgan side capture their first Dublin county title since 2010 in October. They went on to beat St Peter's Dunboyne and Portlaoise in Leinster before falling to Mullinalaghta in the provincial final.

This comes as a boost to Offaly as they continue their preparations in the O'Byrne Cup ahead of their National League Division 3 opener against Westmeath.

In recent weeks, manager John Maughan lamented the fact that not all of Offaly's top players have made themselves available to the county side, but the former Mayo, Clare, Roscommon and Fermanagh boss will be aiming to get the most out of his squad.
