Galway 0-16 Wexford 0-16: Tribe and Model share spoils in Leinster Championship

Wexford recovered from a slow start to salvage a draw away to Galway in the Leinster Hurling Championship, as it finished 0-16 apiece.
The Yellowbellies remain unbeaten after draws away to Dublin and now Galway, while the Tribesmen prepare for trips to Nowlan Park and Parnell Park in the coming weeks.
It was a game both teams will feel they could have won, but also one for both to be relieved they didn't lose.
It took Wexford until the 23rd minute to register a score, and they had only amassed four at the break. However, having played against the wind, the Model County would have been somewhat satisfied to be only trailing by six at the break.
The opening exchanges caught the eye mainly due to the shots that didn't go over the bar. Lee Chin shot four wides before getting off the mark, while Aidan Nolan was among the offenders for the Yellowbellies as they spurned numerous chances.
Galway didn't entirely punish their hosts, but they did manage to keep the umpires at the Wexford end busy. Niall Burke took his opportunities from placed balls, while Conor Whelan and Conor Cooney were threatening throughout.
When the Model County did eventually find their range, the Tribesmen had built up a meaningful lead. But with the wind at Wexford's back for the second half, it was still very much alive as a contest at the break as Galway led 0-10 to 0-4.
The Model County had an added impetus in the second half, starting brightly as Diarmuid O'Keeffe fired over within seconds of the restart.
Wexford were fired up, and manager Davy Fitzgerald was ordered to the stands after an animated exchange with an official on the sideline. Chin, Rory O'Connor and Cathal Dunbarr were among those to help reel in the six-point deficit.
Indeed, Galway froze for a 10-minute period which allowed the visitors back into the tie.
Conor McDonald eventually levelled in the 60th minute, and moments later Shaun Murphy popped up to nudge Wexford into the lead for the first time.
However, the reigning Leinster champions rallied admirably through Jason Flynn.
As both sides hunted for a winner, goalkeepers Colm Callanan and Mark Fanning were called into action.
Ultimately, neither team could convert, and the spoils were shared.
