WWE Smackdown results: Dean Ambrose manhandled by Randy Orton and Kane
Lunatic Fringe suffers after John Cena chases Seth Rollins
Monday 13 October 2014 16:51, UK
John Cena and Dean Ambrose’s relationship has been noticeably tetchy in recent weeks and it could become even more strained in the wake of Friday Night Smackdown.
Cena and Ambrose are both hoping to get their hands on Authority golden boy Seth Rollins, a quest that has led to the two engaging in multiple wars of words and even scuffling on Raw.
However, The Cenation Leader and The Lunatic Fringe had a chance to prove that they could get along when they teamed up to tackle Kane and Randy Orton in Smackdown’s main event.
The rivals started well, too, tagging each other in at regular intervals and taking charge of their bout with The Demon and The Viper – but things went awry when Rollins appeared.
Cena was left seething at the emergence of the man who had stopped him winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title at Night of Champions and chased The Architect backstage.
That left Ambrose to fend for himself and while he technically secured a victory after Kane and Orton’s vicious attack forced the referee to stop the contest, the Ohio-born star was in no mood to celebrate.
The former United States Champion was left sprawled on the canvas following a Chokeslam and an RKO, ensuring that Cena was of little help when he rushed back to the ring.

Elsewhere, Rusev beat up Big Show after The World’s Largest Athlete apologised to the Russian people but not to the Super-Athlete and Lana for yanking down their country’s flag on Raw.
Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus bested The Miz and Damien Mizdow, with The Show-Off pinning The Awesome One’s stunt double following a Zig-Zag, but that only told half the story.
The Miz attacked Sheamus with a chair outside the ring in the heat of the match-up and The Celtic Warrior responded by whacking Mizdow with the same weapon after the duel when The Miz scuttled from harm's way.
Paige, meanwhile, overcame Naomi, submitting the athletic former Funkadactyl with the PTO, before watching her frenemy turned archenemy AJ Lee assault her new friend Alicia Fox.
Plus, The Usos conquered Slater Gator after Adam Rose’s Bunny hopped into the fray and took out Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil’s mini-gator Hornswoggle, while Cesaro – still smarting after failing to poach the Intercontinental Championship on Raw – made light work of R-Truth.
