WWE Hell in a Cell 2014 results: Bray Wyatt attacks Dean Ambrose in main event

Eater of Worlds stops Lunatic Fringe beating Seth Rollins in Dallas

The Eater of Worlds returned at Hell in a Cell – and turned Dean Ambrose’s world upside down.

Bray Wyatt had not been in WWE since early September, bar a series of cryptic vignettes, but reappeared in Dallas on Sunday night to cost Ambrose his duel with friend turned foe Seth Rollins.

Ambrose was on the verge of victory inside The Devil’s Playground when he prepared to thunder Rollins’ head into cinderblocks, but before he could deliver the final, devastating blow, The American Airlines Arena was plunged into darkness.

Eerie words were then heard, before a lantern offered light from the middle of the ring.

Ambrose was befuddled by the glow, allowing Wyatt, who had somehow managed to enter the locked Hell in a Cell compound, to emerge from the shadows and slam him into the mat.

Rollins was the beneficiary of the assault, covering his former Shield stablemate for the pinfall win, and while The Architect slinked away, Wyatt added to Ambrose’s pain by flooring him with Sister Abigail.

Ascend

Chaos ended Hell in a Cell’s main event, then, but the contest started the same way.

A fired-up Ambrose bounced to the ring with a kendo stick and immediately scaled the Cell structure, waved his weapon around and urged Rollins to join him up high.

The Aerialist, though, was understandably reticent and forced backstage hands Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury to ascend the metal and neuter his arch nemesis instead.

Rollins even told J&J Security to toss Ambrose off the Cell but The Lunatic Fringe swiftly floored the bodyguards with his kendo stick and set his sights on Rollins, who had made his way to the roof.

The warring rivals threw fists whilst stepping down The Devil’s Playground, a fracas that resulted in both men tumbling into the announce desks below and being placed onto stretchers.

Ambrose, though, refused to accept medical help and after pulverising Rollins, he hurled his adversary into the ring and insisted the Cell door be bolted shut.

Received

Cue even more carnage, with Rollins sent through a second table and Ambrose chucked into the metal walls, before the latter assumed control of the bout and set up the cinderblocks.

But before Ambrose could administer the same punishment to Rollins that he had himself received the night after SummerSlam, Wyatt made his move.

In the night’s other Hell in a Cell duel, meanwhile, John Cena overcame a valiant Randy Orton to become No 1 Contender to Brock Lesnar’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Cena was on the back foot in the embryonic stages of the match, falling victim to an array of chair shots and a stunning mid-air RKO, but clicked into gear after evading The Viper’s attempt at a punt.

The Chain Gang Soldier eventually prevailed by plonking Orton into a table with an Attitude Adjustment from the turnbuckle, before locking eyes with Lesnar’s manager Paul Heyman, who was watching proceedings from across the arena.
