WWE Raw results: Erick Rowan and Ryback join Team Cena ahead of Survivor Series

Ryback and Erick Rowan will compete for Team Cena in the vital clash with Team Authority at Survivor Series.

John Cena’s group headed into Raw needing just one Superstar to round out their line-up but after Sheamus was thundered into the announce desk by Mark Henry and ruled out of Sunday’s pay-per-view, two spots became available.

After Erick Rowan and Ryback were confirmed as members of Team Cena on Raw, their captain gets the better of Triple H

Ryback and Rowan filled those vacancies in the closing stages of Monday night’s show and went on to help their weekend cohorts – Cena, Big Show and Dolph Ziggler – clobber The Authority’s squad.

Triple H was even marmalised, with The Game sent crashing through a table by Cena after he had become preoccupied by Ryback, the man he had been so desperate to recruit for his own Survivor Series team and who had edged Cesaro in a pulsating encounter earlier in the evening.

The Cerebral Assassin and his wife, Stephanie McMahon, will be forced to relinquish their power if their posse is conquered by Cena’s mob on Sunday, so named a bearded destroyer as their final competitor.

Luke Harper’s attack on Ziggler last week impressed The Authority sufficiently for the former Wyatt Family charge to not only secure a Survivor Series berth but also be granted an Intercontinental Title match against The Show-Off – which he won.

Harper was helped by Seth Rollins, Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble softening Ziggler before the contest, but the champion had no answer to the monster’s discus clothesline – or Rollins’ post-bout Curb Stomp.

Tussle

Rusev, who will band with Rollins, Harper, Kane and Henry on Team Authority, also prevailed in Virginia, forcing proud American Heath Slater to tap out to The Accolade.

The Bulgarian Brute, still yet to suffer a pinfall or submission loss since his ascent to WWE’s main roster, left his mark later on, too, when he and Henry interfered in the singles match between then-Team Cena allies Big Show and Sheamus.

Stephanie McMahon had tried to fracture The World’s Largest Athlete and The Celtic Warrior’s bond by placing them in a one-on-one tussle and announcing that the winner would earn a future opportunity for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Big Show and Sheamus put their friendship temporarily aside, blasting each other with hard-hitting moves, but the fracas ended when Rusev and Henry appeared.

Rusev locked a wearied Show in The Accolade, while World’s Strongest Man, Henry, launched that aforementioned assault on Sheamus, which led to the Irishman being taken to a local medical facility and seeing his Survivor Series hopes dashed.

Team Authority looked to have a distinct advantage over Team Cena at that point, but with Triple H picking splinters out of his body at the night’s end, the tables – literally – may have turned.

Elsewhere on Raw, Adam Rose was embarrassed by The Bunny, Dean Ambrose outwitted Bray Wyatt, The Miz was ignored by internet sensation Grumpy Cat – and there were TWO AJ Lees.

Rose had pleaded for The Bunny’s assistance during his dustup with Tyson Kidd but with the furry critter more interested in flirting with Kidd’s wife Natalya, the party-loving Superstar had to fend for himself.

Rose had no choice but to submit when Kidd caught him in the Sharpshooter – and he could not get the better of The Bunny either, with the animal wriggling free from his attempted beat-down.

Ambrose, meanwhile, addressed his Survivor Series duel with Wyatt on the TitanTron before emerging in the ring and clocking The Eater of Worlds with his regular gusto.

The Miz runs some film ideas past internet sensation Grumpy Cat on WWE Raw but the moggy seems far from impressed…

The Miz was rebuffed in his efforts to get Grumpy Cat to star in a film with him but was on the winning side inside the squared circle when he united with Damien Mizdow, Goldust and Stardust to take on The Usos and Los Matadores in a high-octane tag scrap.

Plus, Nikki Bella’s plan to make an example of twin sister and personal assistant, Brie Bella, and Divas Champion and Survivor Series adversary, AJ Lee, backfired dramatically.

Nikki made Brie dress up as Lee for their match – complete with spider-web T-Shirt and Chuck Taylors – but a change of guise did not throw Brie off her game and she pinned her sibling with a roll-up.

A furious Nikki tried to batter Brie after her loss but was stopped in her tracks by Lee, who floored Nikki with a running nee and then flattened Brie with a DDT.
