WrestleMania 31: The Undertaker, Daniel Bryan and John Cena win big in Santa Clara

British Diva Paige tastes success at her Show of Shows debut

The Undertaker banished memories of his WrestleMania 30 defeat to Brock Lesnar by conquering Bray Wyatt at The Show of Shows on Sunday evening.

The Phenom saw his unbeaten streak at WWE’s spring extravaganza came to a crashing halt 12 months ago as he was downed by The Beast Incarnate following a third F5.

But the veteran, who had not competed since that reverse in New Orleans, bounced back against Wyatt, besting The New Face of Fear with his second Tombstone Piledriver of the evening.

Daniel Bryan was the MVP of WrestleMania 30, overcoming Batista and Randy Orton in a Triple Threat encounter to pinch the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

And the fan favourite struck gold again at ‘Mania 31 in California, defeating Dolph Ziggler, Bad News Barrett, R-Truth, Stardust, Dean Ambrose and Luke Harper to nab the Intercontinental Title in a seven-man Ladder Match.

Bryan and Ziggler were the final two men left standing at the top of the ladder inside Levi’s Stadium but after The Submission Specialist head-butted Ziggler to the floor, he plucked the belt out of the sky.

John Cena became gilded on Sunday, too, seizing the United States Championship by handing Rusev his first pinfall defeat since his debut on WWE’s main roster in early 2014.

The Cenation Leader was certainly ruffled by The Bulgarian Brute but when Rusev’s over-zealous attack led to him knocking his valet, Lana, off the ring apron, Cena pounced to deliver a match-winning Attitude Adjustment.

Elsewhere, British grappler Paige won her first WrestleMania match, teaming up with “frenemy” AJ Lee to knock off The Bella Twins, Divas Champion Nikki and her sister, Brie.

The Norwich-born wrestler – a two-time Divas Champion in her own right - hurled Brie into the steel ring steps in California, allowing Lee to submit Nikki to the Black Widow and secure the victory.
