GB turn to Canadian duo

GB coach Paul Thompson has included Jody Lehman and Shane Johnson in his 30-man squad for the World Championships.

Great Britain coach Paul Thompson has included Canadian duo Jody Lehman and Shane Johnson in his provisional 30-man squad for the World Championships in Poland.

Sheffield Steelers star Lehman, one of the favourites to be named the Elite League's Most Valuable Player, and defenceman Johnson, of Belfast Giants, have now become British citizens.

Forward Robert Dowd has been rewarded for a stunning season with Steelers and is also in line to make his World Championship debut in April.

The 20-year-old, in his first year as a full-time Steeler, has notched 21 goals and 23 assists in 50 games and is a certainty for rookie of the year.

GB face Ukraine, Italy, Holland, Romania and Poland during April 11-17 and Thompson will cut the squad down to 23 later this month.
