The New York Rangers made it seven straight wins over the Philadelphia Flyers as Ryan Callahan scored three goals in a 5-2 victory.
The Eastern Conference-leading Rangers also had Marian Gaborik and Artem Anisimov among the goals as the Rangers went six points ahead of the Flyers in the Atlantic Division with two games in hand.
Henrik Lundqvist had 31 saves for the Rangers.
The Flyers, who have lost four of five, had Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds on the scoresheet.
Florida Panthers beat the New Jersey Devils 3-1 as Scott Clemmensen stopped 27 shots against his former team.
Sean Bergenheim, Kris Versteeg and Mikael Samuelsson scored for the Panthers, who made it four wins out of six.
Tyler Seguin and Patrice Bergeron were both on target in the shootout as the Boston Bruins defeated the Nashville Predators 4-3.
The NHL-leading points scorer Evgeni Malkin added to his tally with a goal and also had four assists in the Pittsburgh Penguins' 8-5 defeat of the Winnipeg Jets.
Coyotes delight
The Phoenix Coyotes had a fifth straight win as Mike Smith made 38 saves for a third shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Mark Streit's goal 1:36 into overtime saw the New York Islanders to a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
The Edmonton Oilers snapped a two-game losing streak as Taylor Hall scored 17 seconds into overtime of the 4-3 win against the Ottawa Senators.
The Tampa Bay Lightning won 2-1 against the Buffalo Sabres as Steven Stamkos had a goal and an assist.
The Toronto Maple Leafs retired the famous number 13 shirt of former captain Mats Sundin and were then hammered 5-0 by the Montreal Canadiens as Carey Price saved 32 shots and Erik Cole, Rene Bourque, Max Pacioretty, Lars Eller and Mathieu Darche scored the goals.
Two goals from RJ Umberger, one on a power play with 21 seconds remaining in the second period, saw the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild.
The St Louis Blues won 3-2 against the Colorado Avalanche as Carlo Colaiacovo scored 3:18 into overtime.
The Calgary Flames were 3-2 shootout winners against the Vancouver Canucks.
