Steven Stamkos scored his 50th goal of the NHL season as the Tampa Bay Lightning routed the Boston Bruins 6-1.
The 22-year-old Canadian was on 48 going into the match but was forced out of limelight in a stellar first period for the Lightning as goals from Tom Pyatt, Nate Thompson, Ryan Shannon and Victor Hedman put them 4-0 up.
From there Stamkos took over, though, scoring his 49th of the season in the second period, then, after Jordan Caron pulled one back at the start of the third, he brought up his half-century 8:17 from the end.
It is already the second time in his young career Stamkos has achieved a 50-goal season.
Two goals from Brad Richards helped the New York Rangers to a 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
Marian Gaborik and Carl Hagelin got the other goals for the Rangers, while Tim Brent and Drayson Bowman notched for the Hurricanes.
Shoot-out
Alex Ovechkin scored twice as he led the Washington Capitals' fightback from 4-1 down in the second period to a 5-4 shoot-out win over the New York Islanders.
Matt Hendricks scored the winner in the shoot-out to give the Capitals their fourth straight win.
Goals from Sean Couturier, Jakub Voracek and Danny Briere gave the Philadelphia Flyers a 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils.
Jamie Benn scored the only goal in the Dallas Stars' 1-0 win over the Minnesota Wild and Sean Bergenheim bagged a couple to help the Florida Panthers beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2.
Patrick Kane was the only man to score in the shoot-out as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the St Louis Blues 4-3, the Calgary Flames beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2 in overtime and the Los Angeles Kings were 5-2 winners over the Detroit Red Wings.
