Sheffield Steelers gained instant revenge for Saturday's home loss to Cardiff Devils by claiming a 4-3 win after penalties in the Welsh capital on Sunday.

After crashing to a 4-2 defeat on home ice on Saturday, Sheffield made amends in a tense shootout with Cory Pecker firing home the winning shot in sudden death round two.

During game time, Devils had hit back from 3-1 behind to force overtime thanks to a Mac Faulkner hat-trick, while for Steelers skipper Jonathan Phillips scored twice.

Coventry Blaze recorded a weekend double courtesy of a 4-3 victory over Fife Flyers.

Power

An exciting game at the Skydome saw the Flyers score late to seemingly force overtime, only for Blaze to grab the game winner through Brad Leeb with only 79 seconds of regulation remaining.

In Challenge Cup action, Edinburgh Capitals and Nottingham Panthers both kicked off their campaigns with victories.

The Panthers powered to a 5-1 victory over Dundee Stars, out-shooting their Scottish counterparts an almighty 56-18.

David Ling and David Clarke both struck twice for the home side with Matthew Myers completing the Nottingham scoring.

The Scottish derby between Edinburgh and Brahead Clan was a much tighter affair, the Capitals eventually prevailing 4-3 in overtime.
