The King of Kings lived up to his name at No Mercy as he overcame a resilient Jeff Hardy to cling on to his WWE Championship.

The two superstars have shown their mutual respect in previous weeks, however there was no love lost at this latest pay-per-view event in a truly epic encounter.

Prior to the match, the WWE public showed their support for the Legend Thriller - 72 per cent predicting a change of champion by the end of the night.

The high-flying Hardy threw everything he had at The Game and at one stage looked as if he had done enough to snatch the gold.

After landing a Swantom Bomb, Hardy rolled for the pin which was expertly reversed by Triple H.

After the match the Moscow Mauler, Vladimir Kozlov, was on hand to 'congratulate' Triple H sparking speculation over further confrontation between the two.
