Rivalries begin to take shape in the countdown to April 5
As the build up to Wrestlemania XXV hots up, WWE champion Triple H has become embroiled in the McMahons' war with Legacy.
Monday night Raw got underway with Shane McMahon - still intent on revenge against Randy Orton for incapacitating his father Vince - challenging the Legend Killer to an unsanctioned match.
But things turned sour after Shane O'Mac was ambushed by Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase when attempting to go Coast-To-Coast on his opponent.
Enmity
A vicious punt to the head inevitably ended the attack and, not content with the damage he had inflicted to one McMahon sibling, Orton then RKO'd a weeping Stephanie as she tended to her brother.
That prompted a furious looking Triple H to run down the runway to scare away the vultures and, though his intervention proved too late for the McMahons, the repercussions for Orton and his heartless posse could be massive.
Elsewhere, Shawn Michaels took immediate advantage of his newfound freedom by challenging his former employer JBL to a match for the right to try and end Undertaker's 16-0 record at WrestleMania.
And Chris Jericho continued his descent from decency by attacking WWE Legend and Hall of Famer Rowdy Roddy Piper when he came out to defend Mickey Rourke and his film
The Wrestler.
Rhodes, DiBiase and William Regal teamed up to beat Intercontinental champion CM Punk and Cryme Tyme in a six-man tag team match, meanwhile, with DiBiase pinning JTG for the win.
Physicality
Just 24 hours after they faced one another in a brutal elimination chamber match for the world heavyweight title, Rey Mysterio once again took on the giant that is Mike Knox.
The Ultimate Underdog upset the odds to gain a pinfall victory over his massive opponent, but the same could not be said about another David versus Goliath encounter.
The Big Red Monster Kane proved too much for cocky West Virginia native Jamie Noble to handle and he lost to a clean one, two, three.
Finally, Melina showed why she is women's champion with victory over The Glamazon Beth Phoenix.
Kelly Kelly, Mickie James and Candice Michelle came to the champion's aid by neutralising the threat of Phoenix's beau Santino Marella and her overzealous 'intern' Rosa Mendes on the outside of the ring.
