The Rock: Birthday celebrations
The Rock: Birthday celebrations

When Monday Night RAW emanated from Miami, The Rock and WWE fans worldwide enjoyed a party of epic proportions, celebrating The Great One's birthday.

It was billed as the biggest birthday party in TV history, and the timing couldn't have been better - coming less than 24 hours after President Barack Obama announced the death of Osama bin Laden.

The Most Electrifying Man in All of Sports Entertainment kicked off proceedings by acknowledging the events of the past 24 hours.

With the reassuring news buoying the festivities, The Rock led his hometown in a poignant rendition of the Pledge of Allegiance. He then encouraged them to have fun and celebrate his birthday in style. Unfortunately, announcer Michael Cole didn't approve.

Cole, on behalf of the anonymous RAW General Manager, interrupted The Great One as he addressed fans. After ripping on Cole, The Brahma Bull invited him into the ring with the aim of receiving an apology.

Although Cole went on to offer a very sincere apology, the announcer was then greeted with a Rock Bottom and The People's Elbow which sent fans into a frenzy.

Celebrate

Before RAW went off the air, The Great One thanked the fans in his hometown of Miami and WWE fans everywhere for helping him celebrate. He was then joined by surprise guest Mr McMahon, who thanked Rock for coming back home before unveiling a heart-warming video tribute to one of WWE's biggest ever Superstars.

After losing the WWE title at Extreme Rules to newly-crowned champion John Cena, The Miz faced the leader of the Cenation just 24 hours later on RAW in what turned out to be a highly competitive match for the WWE Title.

The two Superstars battled, each man coming close with very near pinfalls, however, a clean finish was not on the cards when Alex Riley handed his boss the WWE Championship when the referee was distracted. The Awesome One used it to strike Cena, hit him with a Skull Crushing Finale and secured what appeared to be the match winning pinfall.

However, Miz was soon brought back down to earth when the match official noticed the title belt already in the ring and quickly realised what had transpired. As a result, he disqualified Miz, allowing The Champ to retain.

One night on from ranting about conspiracy theories and personal vendettas, R-Truth ambushed John Morrison just prior to their scheduled match on RAW. As officials assisted Morrison to the locker room area, Truth attacked Morrison again, leaving him in an even worse state on the entrance ramp.
