The Game stood within the barbaric metal structure in Tulsa, Oklahoma to recall the battles he had endured with Lesnar, and eventually beckoned his weekend foe to the ring to begin their duel early.
The Beast Incarnate did his utmost to bash Triple H but was thwarted by the WWE's Chief Operating Officer and hurled through the Steel Cage door, before swiftly retreating back to the locker room alongside his verbose advocate, Paul Heyman.
WWE Champion John Cena also felt pain on Monday evening as he was pummelled by The Shield members Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns after he, Kane and Daniel Bryan had defeated the black-clad renegades via disqualification.
But worse was to come for the Cenation Leader when he was beaten down further by Ryback, the man he will defend his championship against in a Last Man Standing Match in St Louis, Missouri on Sunday evening.
Defeated
Jack Swagger - who will fight Alberto Del Rio in a World Heavyweight Title Number One Contender's 'I Quit' bout at Extreme Rules after his championship clash was scrapped due to a concussion suffered by current titlist Dolph Ziggler - defeated Big E Langston.
Elsewhere, Fandango and Chris Jericho's much-anticipated Dance-Off was rendered a no-contest when the former attacked the latter from behind, while Kofi Kingston pinned Damien Sandow and a returning The Miz bested 3MB rocker Heath Slater.
The Prime-Time Players conquered the gargantuan tag team of Tons of Funk, Randy Orton knocked off Antonio Cesaro, and AJ Lee showcased her technical savvy by forcing Hart Dungeon graduate Natalya to tap out to her octopus hold.
Plus, Mark Henry brutalised broadcaster Josh Matthews with a belt ahead of his Strap Match with Sheamus at Extreme Rules - only to the then be battered by The Celtic Warrior and driven from the ring.
