WWE NXT results: Sami Zayn to quit if he fails to land NXT Title

Defeat to Adrian Neville will see Quebecer pack his bags...

Sami Zayn will quit WWE if he fails to win the NXT Championship at Takeover: R Evolution.

The French-Canadian has come agonisingly close to seizing the belt in recent months, losing to Adrian Neville in a Fatal Four-Way, as well as in a singles clash with the Newcastle sparkplug.

But Zayn is so determined to grab gold that he will put his career on the line in his battle with Neville at the latest NXT special event, which takes place on Thursday, December 11.

The Quebec-born grappler was outwitted by Neville during their title tangle last week, pinned after he went to check on the Geordie, who had seemingly been injured by a failed Red Arrow.

Zayn re-watched footage of that encounter on Thursday night’s edition of NXT, before challenging Neville, whose reign with the NXT Title now stands at 267 days, to one more match for his strap.

NXT General Manager William Regal made the bout official before Zayn dropped his bombshell: if he leaves Orlando title-less in mid-December, he will exit WWE – and never return.

Fun

Elsewhere at Full Sail University, the No 1 contenders to the NXT Tag Team Championships, The Vaudevillains, recorded a victory and poked fun at The Lucha Dragons simultaneously.

Simon Gotch and Aiden English brought a pair of little people to ring, dressed in masks akin to the ones worn by titlists The Lucha Dragons aka Kalisto and Sin Cara.

And The Vaudevillains proceeded to toss their pint-sized rivals around before sealing the triumph with Gentlemen’s Congress.

Powerhouses Baron Corbin and Bull Dempsey, meanwhile, could be on a collision course after securing convincing wins – and staring each other down – on Thursday night.

Corbin dispatched Elias Samson in just 22 seconds with End of Days and then locked eyes with Dempsey as he made his way to the locker room and the New Yorker emerged for his encounter.

Dempsey bulldozed his way through Steve Cutler but as he took slightly longer to down his foe than Corbin did his, the WWE Universe delighted in chanting “Baron’s better”.

Battering

Plus, Becky Lynch conquered former friend Bayley via nefarious means after pinching the likeable Californian’s tights en route to pinning her.

Lynch and new “bestie” Sasha Banks then attempted to hand Bayley a post-match battering but were stopped in their tracks by NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte, who rushed to Bayley’s aid.

Finn Balor was also in the thick of the action in Florida – despite not showing his face.

The Irish performer learned he will face Tyson Kidd – a victor over ecowarrior CJ Parker on Thursday – in a singles dustup next week, before he and Hideo Itami were warned by The Ascension that the war brewing between them was far from over.

Konnor and Viktor gave an indication of the fate that may befall Balor and Itami, too, bashing Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder after the duos had met in a tag tussle.

Cassady and Amore were left in a heap, then, but they did manage to get the better of Dawson and Wilder prior to The Ascension’s onslaught, with Cassady collecting the pin on Dawson.
